Our school governors play a vital role in the leadership and management of a school. They work as part of a governing board to ensure the school provides the best possible education for its pupils. Their responsibilities include:
Setting the school’s strategic direction — helping to shape the vision, values, and long‑term goals of the school.
Supporting and challenging school leaders — acting as a “critical friend” to the Executive Headteacher by offering both encouragement and constructive scrutiny.
Overseeing financial performance — ensuring the school’s budget is used effectively and delivers value for money.
Monitoring educational standards — reviewing pupil progress, attainment, and the quality of teaching to ensure high expectations are maintained.
Ensuring accountability — making sure the school meets statutory duties, including safeguarding, equality, and curriculum requirements.
Representing the community — bringing perspectives from parents, staff, and the wider community to help the school serve its pupils well.
